Step by step
Three minutes, start to finish
Allow unknown apps
Open Settings → Device Preferences → Security & Restrictions and turn on Unknown sources for whichever app you'll download with. On Google TV it's Settings → System → Apps → Security & restrictions.
Install Downloader
Search the Google Play Store for Downloader by AFTVnews and install it. It's free, and it's the same app the Firestick guide uses.
Enter your code
Open Downloader, type the numeric code from your welcome email into the URL field and press Go. The APK downloads in well under a minute.
Install and sign in
Press Install, then Open. Enter the username and password from your welcome email and leave the server field as it comes pre-filled.
Let the guide build
The EPG downloads in the background over the first 5–10 minutes. Channels play normally while it fills in behind you.
Getting the most out of it

Refresh rate matching
On Shield and Google TV, enable Match content frame rate in display settings. It removes judder on 50Hz European feeds.

Use Ethernet if you can
Wi-Fi is fine for HD. For consistent 4K on a busy home network, a cable removes the single most common cause of stutter.

Set up profiles first
Create the kids profile and set its PIN before anyone else uses the box. Retrofitting it later means re-teaching the household.

Pin your favourites
Long-press a channel to add it to Favourites. With 55,000 channels, a curated list of 30 is the difference between usable and overwhelming.

Let it auto-update
The app checks for updates on launch. Accept them — fixes for individual broadcaster quirks ship almost weekly.
Troubleshooting
If something goes wrong
"App not installed" at the end of the install
Usually an older copy of the app already on the device. Uninstall it from Settings → Apps, then run the installer again. If that doesn't help, clear Downloader's cache and re-download — a truncated APK gives the same message.
The app opens but the channel list is empty
The credentials didn't take. Sign out, re-enter the username and password exactly as they appear in the email (they're case-sensitive), and make sure you haven't picked up a trailing space from copy-paste.
Stutter on 4K but HD is perfect
Check your speed at the device. Under 15 Mbps, 4K will stall regardless of hardware. If speed is fine, enable Match content frame rate — a 24fps film forced to 60Hz output looks like stutter but isn't buffering.
Remote navigation feels sluggish in the guide
Turn off channel logos in EPG in settings on lower-powered boxes like the Mi Stick. Loading 55,000 logos while scrolling is what's costing you the frames.
